1. How accounts work

You log in with an EVE character. Your account holds your characters and everything the app records for them.

An account is your private space in the app. It holds your characters, jobs, stock, plans, settings and history. Nobody else can see what is in it, not even the admins: they can see that your account exists, never its contents.

No password
There is no username or password for this app. You log in on CCP's own EVE login page (EVE SSO) with any character linked to your account. The app never sees your EVE password.
Read-only access
When you log in, EVE asks you to approve a list of permissions (scopes). Every one of them is read-only: the app can read your industry jobs, skills, implants, assets, wallet, contracts, mining ledger, market orders, blueprints and structure markets. It cannot move items, spend ISK or start jobs.
Tokens stored encrypted
EVE gives the app a token for each character so it can keep reading that data. The app stores the token encrypted and never shows it.
Characters
One account can hold several characters (your alts). A character belongs to one account only. Add more on the Characters page; see the Characters guide.
Main character
The character whose name labels your account: at the top right of every page, on the Account page, and in the admins' lists. Any linked character can log in.

The pages in this guide are Log in, Create an account and Account. Open the Account page from the account menu at the top right (your main character's name) → Account and sessions.

2. Getting an account

How you get in depends on who the admin lets sign up. The log-in page tells you which applies.

An admin chooses one of three sign-up rules for the whole app. The line at the bottom of the log-in page shows the current one:

Open
Anyone can join. The page says A character not yet linked anywhere creates a new account when it logs in. Just log in.
Invite only
You need an invite link from an admin. The page says New accounts need an invite link. Have one?
Closed
Nobody new can join. The page says Sign-up is closed. Characters already linked to an account can log in. Ask an admin to open sign-up or send you an invite.

Sign up when sign-up is open

  1. 1
    Open the log-in page
Go to Log in and press Log in with EVE Online.
  2. 2
    Log in on EVE's page
Log in with your EVE account, pick the character that should own the new account, and approve the permissions.
  3. 3
    You are in
A new account is created with that character as its main character, and you land on the Dashboard.

Sign up with an invite link

3. Logging in

Any character linked to your account logs you in to it.

  1. 1
    Open the log-in page
Go to Log in. Any page you open while logged out sends you there.
  2. 2
Press Log in with EVE Online
    EVE's login page opens.
  3. 3
    Pick one of your characters
Choose any character linked to your account and approve the permissions. If it is not listed, log in on EVE's page with the EVE account that owns it.
  4. 4
    You land on the Dashboard
Always the Dashboard, even if you were sent to the log-in page from another page.
Finish within 10 minutes, in the same browser
The login is tied to the browser that started it and expires after 10 minutes. If you take longer, or finish in another browser or a private window, you get That login link expired or was started in another browser. Start again from the log-in page.

How long you stay logged in

A login (a session) lasts 30 days from the last time you used the app, so a regular user stays logged in. Logging in again in the same browser replaces that browser's old session. You are logged out sooner when:

  • you press Log out;
  • you, in another browser, press Log out everywhere else;

4. When logging in fails

Every message the log-in, sign-up and add-character steps can show, and what to do.

Problems show in a red box on the log-in page, or on the sign-up page for an invite that cannot be used. When adding a character, they show on Characters after Could not add the character.

That login link expired or was started in another browser. Start again from this page.
You took more than 10 minutes, or finished in another browser or private window. Start again and finish in one go.
EVE SSO did not complete the login. Try again.
You pressed cancel on EVE's page, or EVE had a problem. Try again.
EVE SSO did not accept the login. Try again.
EVE refused to complete the login. Try again in a moment.
EVE SSO returned a token that could not be verified.
EVE's answer could not be checked. Try again; if it keeps happening, tell an admin.
The character's public details could not be read from ESI. Try again in a minute.
EVE's data service did not answer. Wait a minute and try again.
The login could not be saved. Try again.
Something went wrong on the app's side. Try again; if it keeps happening, tell an admin.
This account is disabled. Ask the admin.
An admin has disabled the account that holds this character. Only an admin can enable it again.
This character is linked to another account here.
A character belongs to one account only. Log in with it to use that account, or link a different character.
This character now belongs to another EVE account. Ask the admin to move it.
The character was sold or transferred since it was linked. The old account stops syncing it and keeps its history. See the question below.

5. The Account page

Your account's details, its main character, its sessions and the way to delete it.

The title shows whose account it is (for example Vex Arden's account). Two buttons sit at the top right:

Link a character
Adds another of your characters to this account: EVE's login page opens, you pick the character, and you come back to Characters with it added. It does the same as Add character on the Characters page. Greyed out when the account is at its character limit.
Log out
Ends this browser's session and returns you to the log-in page.

The Account panel

Role
User, or Admin if you can manage the app (see the Administration guide).
Characters
How many characters are linked, of how many the admin allows (for example 3 of 10). Click it to open Characters.
Created
When the account was created.
Last login
When you last logged in, in any browser.
Main character
The name that labels your account. Pick another linked character in the list; it changes at once.
  1. 1
    Choose the main character
In Main character, pick one of your linked characters.

6. Sessions and logging out

See every browser that is logged in to your account and log them out.

The Sessions panel lists every browser currently logged in to your account, most recently used first:

Session
A short code for the session. this browser marks the one you are using now.
Browser
The browser and system it was opened from, as the browser reports it, or unknown.
Started
When that login happened.
Last seen
When it was last used. It is updated at most every 10 minutes, so it can be a little behind.

Log out every other browser

  1. 1
    Press Log out everywhere else
The button is at the top of the Sessions panel. It is greyed out when this is your only session.
  2. 2
    Done
Every other session ends at once; this browser stays logged in. A message says how many were logged out.

Use it when you logged in on a computer that is not yours, or see a session you do not recognise. If you think someone else had access to your EVE account, also change your EVE password.

Logging out

Press Log out on the Account page, or open the account menu at the top right and choose Log out. Only this browser is logged out.

7. Deleting your account

Removes the account and everything in it, for good.

This cannot be undone
Deleting removes every character link and token, and all jobs, stock, lots, plans, settings and history. Nothing is kept and nobody can restore it. Export anything you want to keep first, for example from Profit reports (CSV).
  1. 1
    Open the Account page
Account menu (top right) → Account and sessions, then scroll to Delete account.
  2. 2
    Press Delete account
A dialog, Delete this account?, says what will be deleted.
  3. 3
    Type DELETE
Type DELETE in capitals in Type DELETE to confirm. The button stays greyed out until you do.
  4. 4
    Press Delete everything
You are logged out and the log-in page says Your account and everything in it was deleted. Its characters can be linked again.

Your characters are free again: they can sign up for a new account (if sign-up allows it) or be linked to another account. Press Cancel in the dialog to keep everything.

Admins: the last admin cannot leave
The app always needs at least one active admin. If you are the only one, the Account page reminds you and deleting is refused. Make another account an admin first under .

8. Common questions

Click a question to open it.

Logging in and your account

How do I get an account?

It depends on the sign-up rule the admin chose. The bottom of the log-in page tells you which applies:

  • Open: log in with any character that is not linked to an account yet, and a new account is created.
  • Invite only: open the invite link an admin sent you and press Sign up with EVE Online.
  • Closed: only characters already linked to an account can log in. Ask an admin for an invite.
Does the app see my EVE password?

No. You log in on CCP's own EVE SSO page. The app receives a token that can only read the data you approved (all read-only), and it stores that token encrypted. To stop the app reading a character, use Forget token on its card in Characters, or remove the app's access in your EVE account settings on CCP's website.

“That login link expired or was started in another browser.”

Start the login again from the log-in page and finish it within 10 minutes, in the same browser. It happens when EVE's page was left open too long, or the login was finished in a different browser or a private window.

“That invite link was already used, revoked or has expired.”

Each invite link works once, may expire, and can be revoked by an admin. Ask the admin for a new one.

“This account is disabled. Ask the admin.”

An admin has disabled the account. Its data is kept. Ask an admin why; only an admin can enable it again.

“This character is linked to another account here.”

A character can belong to one account only. Log in with that character to reach the account it belongs to. To move it, that account must be deleted first: a character cannot be taken out of an account on its own.

“This character now belongs to another EVE account.”

The character was sold or transferred to another EVE account after it was linked here. To protect the old owner, the app stopped syncing it and refused the login; the old account keeps the character's history and gets an Inbox item. The app cannot move one character between accounts yet, so it can only be used again once the account holding it is deleted. Send the admins a ticket with .

“This account has reached its character limit.”
Why was I sent back to the log-in page?
Deleting my account says I am the only active admin.

    You are in
The account is created and you land on the Dashboard. The invite link is now used up and stops working.
An invite link works once
Each invite signs up one account, then stops working. It can also expire or be revoked by an admin. Do not share it: whoever uses it first gets the account. Finish the sign-up in the same browser you opened the link in.

Opened Create an account without a link? It shows Sign-up needs an invite link. Open the link you were given. (invite only) or Sign-up is closed. (closed). If the character you sign up with is already linked to an account, you are simply logged in to that account.

  • an admin disables your account;
  • you go 30 days without using the app.
  • You then land on the log-in page. Log in again; nothing in your account is lost.

This account has reached its character limit.
The admin limits how many characters one account may have. The Account page shows how many you have of how many allowed.
Sign-up is closed. Characters already linked to an account can still log in.
This character has no account and nobody new can join. Ask an admin for an invite.
    Sign-up needs an invite link.
Sign-up is invite only and you logged in without one. Open your invite link and use Sign up with EVE Online.
That invite link was already used, revoked or has expired.
Ask the admin for a new link.
Log in first, then add the character.
Your session ended while you were adding a character. Log in again, then add it.
EVE SSO is not configured on the server yet (EVE_CLIENT_ID, TOKEN_ENCRYPTION_KEY, ESI_USER_AGENT).
The app has not been set up to talk to EVE yet. Only the person running the server can fix this.
    Login failed (…)
An unexpected problem, with its code in brackets. Try again, and tell an admin the code if it keeps happening.
    2
    Check the result
A Main character changed message confirms it. The name at the top right updates.

A character cannot be removed from an account. To stop syncing one, use Deactivate or Forget token on its card in Characters.

    Admin→Accounts
    Feedback

The admin sets how many characters one account may hold (10 unless they changed it). The Account page shows Characters as, for example, 10 of 10. Ask an admin to raise the limit.

Sessions last 30 days from their last use. You are also logged out when someone used Log out everywhere else from another browser, or an admin disabled the account. Log in again; you land on the Dashboard.

The app must keep at least one admin. Make another account an admin under Admin→Accounts (Make admin), then delete yours.
