1. What the Characters page is for

Link every character that runs reactions, refines or holds stock, and keep their access to EVE working.

The app reads your characters' data from EVE through ESI, EVE's official data service: industry jobs, skills, assets, wallet, contracts, mining and market orders. To do that it needs each character to log in once through EVE's own login page and grant permissions (called scopes). Characters is where you add characters, see whether their access still works, and check the skills that decide their reaction slots and remote range.

Each character has a card. Click its name to open the character's own page with every skill, implant, scope and sync. Active characters come first, then alphabetical.

The first character you log in with is your account's main character. Changing the main character, logging out other sessions and deleting the account are on Account and sessions; see Logging in and your account.

2. Adding a character

Do this for each alt. You never type your EVE password into this app.

  1. 1
    Press Add character
You are sent to EVE's login page (login.eveonline.com).
  2. 2
Log in with the EVE account that owns the alt and pick the character
If your browser is already logged in to EVE with another account, log out of it on that page first, or the alt will not be in the list.
  3. 3
    Accept the permissions
Leave every permission ticked. Each one switches on a kind of sync; a missing one leaves that data out (see Scopes below).
  4. 4
    Back in the app
You return to Characters with the message … added. First sync running. and the new card flashes. The scheduled syncs pick the character up within about a quarter of an hour and fill in its skills, slots and jobs. In a hurry? Open the character and press Run now on the rows you need (start with Skills and Industry jobs).
Character limit
Each account can link a limited number of characters (10 unless an admin changed it). Deactivated characters still count. Your count is shown on Account and sessions as Characters n of m. Reached it? Ask an admin to raise the limit.

When adding fails you come back to Characters with Could not add the character. and the reason. The common ones are in the questions at the end of this guide. If the page says , the server has not been set up for EVE logins yet; only the person who runs the server can fix it.

3. Reading a character card

Portrait and name
Click the name to open the character's page. Below it: the corporation and alliance ids.
Auth OK
The app can read this character's data. Nothing to do.
Needs re-authorisation
EVE refused the stored login (for example after a password change, or the access was revoked on EVE's website). Nothing syncs for this character until you press Re-authorise. The card gets a red border.
No token
No login is stored for this character, usually because you used Forget token. Press Re-authorise to sync it again.
n missing scopes
The character's login lacks some permissions the app asks for. Hover the chip to see which. The syncs that need them do not run. Re-authorise and accept every permission.
Slots
How many reactions the character can run at once: 1 + Mass Reactions + Advanced Mass Reactions levels.
Remote range
How far away, in jumps, the character can start a reaction: 5 jumps per level of Remote Reactions.
In use
Reaction jobs holding a slot, then how many are free (3 · 2 free). A finished job holds its slot until you deliver it in game, so it still counts. Shows inactive for a deactivated character.

4. Re-authorising and scopes

Renew a character's access when it shows Needs re-authorisation, No token or missing scopes.

  1. 1
    Press Re-authorise
On the card, in its … menu, on its page, or on the Inbox item.
  2. 2
On EVE's login page, pick that same character
The button does not choose the character for you. Picking a different character adds that one instead.
  3. 3
    Accept every permission
    This fixes missing scopes too.
  4. 4
    Back in the app
The chip turns to Auth OK and the character is set Active again. Syncs that were parked start again on their own within about a quarter of an hour, or use Run now. (The message still says … added. First sync running.; that is expected.)

What the scopes are for

A scope is one permission, such as reading industry jobs. The character's page lists every scope with a tick (granted) or a cross (missing). Each sync needs one:

esi-industry.read_character_jobs.v1
Industry jobs
esi-skills.read_skills.v1
Skills (slots, remote range, refining yield)

5. Deactivate, Activate and Forget token

Deactivate
Switch Active off (or use the … menu) and confirm. The character is Not synced while inactive; history kept: its jobs, lots and reports stay, but nothing new is read from EVE, it drops out of Slots and Pipeline counts, and it disappears from the Sync grid. Use it for an alt you no longer play.
Activate
Switch it back on: … activated. Sync resumes. Logging in or re-authorising with the character also activates it.
Forget token
In the … menu. Deletes the stored EVE login. The app can no longer sync this character until you log in again. The character stays active but shows Needs re-authorisation. Use it when you want the app to stop reading a character right away. Greyed out with none stored when there is no login to forget.
Neither removes the character
There is no delete. A deactivated or forgotten character keeps its history and still counts towards your character limit. To stop the app reading a character for good, you can also revoke the app on EVE's third-party applications page.

6. A character's own page

Everything the app knows about one character. Open it by clicking the name on a card.

The header shows the portrait, the character, corporation and alliance ids, Last synced, the login status chip, Re-authorise when needed, the Active switch and the … menu. Below it:

Skills
The reaction and refining skills, reaction skills first, with the Level and its Effect: Reactions (needed for formulas; −4% reaction time per level), Mass Reactions and Advanced Mass Reactions (+1 slot per level each), Remote Reactions (+5 jumps per level), the reprocessing skills (refining yield) and Accounting (lowers sales tax). No skills synced yet until the first skills sync.
Slots and jobs
Slots, Holding a slot (running, paused and finished-but-not-delivered reactions), Free, Ready to deliver, Paused, Next finishes (when the next running job ends; its slot frees only once you deliver it), Reactions level and Remote range. Links go to Slots, this character's Jobs and its Holdings.
Implants
The implants plugged into the active clone, from the daily implants sync.

Characters

“This character is linked to another account here.”

A character can belong to one account in this app only, and this one is already in another account. Log in to that account instead. If it should move to yours, ask an admin.

“This character now belongs to another EVE account. Ask the admin to move it.”

The character was sold or transferred to a different EVE account since it was linked, so the app stopped its old link: the stored login is deleted, the character is set inactive and its history stays with the old app account. Only an admin can move it.

“This account has reached its character limit.”

Your account already has as many characters as the admin allows (deactivated ones included). Ask an admin to raise the limit.

“That login link expired or was started in another browser.”

Press Add character (or Re-authorise) again and finish the EVE login in the same browser without waiting too long.

A character shows “Needs re-authorisation” or “missing scopes”.

Press Re-authorise, pick that same character on EVE's page and accept every permission. Until then its data does not sync. See Re-authorising and scopes.

The slots or remote range are wrong.

They come from the skills sync, which runs once a day. After training a skill, open the character and press Run now on its Skills row. Slots are 1 + Mass Reactions + Advanced Mass Reactions; remote range is 5 jumps per Remote Reactions level.

How do I remove a character?

You cannot delete one. Deactivate stops its syncing and keeps its history; Forget token also deletes the stored EVE login. Both keep it in your character count.

Is it safe to log in with EVE here?

You log in on CCP's own page and never give this app your password. The app receives a token that only reads the data you allowed, and stores it encrypted. Use Forget token to remove it, or revoke the app on EVE's website. Your account itself is on .
